ABOUT US and Our BLOG
Welcome to "CULT FICTION"
So about « Us » ! No, dear readers... you 'll have to be a bit patient !! It is not yet the time to tell you about the movie «Us» by Jordan Peele, the director of the cult horror fim «Get Out»... which we will probably talk about in our future blog ! But rather the moment to tell you who we are !
First of all, at the beginning there were three of us, as in “Les trois mousquetaires”, the famous novel by Alexandre Dumas. We were hoping for a « D’Artagnan » cinema-fan to complete our group… and thus to be able to write at the forefront of our four pens our blog dedicated to cinema… respecting the famous motto of the musketeers – variation of the traditional motto of Switzerland – “one for all, all for one”…
Unfortunately, we haven’t heard any news from Oriane, who has already been unable to participate in the “About me” glossary… so we hope that nothing bad happened to her, and that she wasn’t infected with COVID-19… In any case, her absence is really regrettable, because she was very excited about the idea to take part in the creation of this blog with us.
So us ! Ultimately ! Who are we !? The « Beauty and the Beast » ?? The « Lady and the Tramp » ?? The « Bonnie and Clyde » of the bloggers ?? Almost, dear readers, almost... however we must say that you have too much imagination and that you watch too many movies !!
More seriously, we are Ines and Julien, we are respectively 19 and 42 years old, living in Montpellier and in Nangy (a small town close to Geneva), and studying Modern Literature and Philosophy.
From reading our presentation texts, and during our discussions, we have noticed that we enjoy Art in general. Indeed, we are both avid readers (we have motley readings), music lovers (we practice piano) and fascinated by the photography. But this is not all ! We also share a great desire to travel, because we love to discover new cultures, and we love the sound of foreign languages... (in fact, we secretly dream of being multilingual, but when we see how difficult it is already to master English, and even our mother tongue... we prefer to be modest about our desires)...
And yes ! Dear readers ! I know that you know what will come next... that we are now going to tell you that we are obviously passionate about Cinema, the Seventh Art, this art that brings together everything we love in a single entity, this “total artwork”, this “all embracing art form” that would have made Richard Wagner mad with jealousy ! And yes dear readers, you are so right ! We can’t hide anything from you ! And besides, it is now the time to tell you a little more on our blog :
Why a blog on cinema ?
Each of us has a particular link to cinema which comes from our childhood.
For Inès, it's a love that dates back to when she was young ; indeed, she dreamed of becoming an actress and she even took acting lessons for that. In addition, Inès sees the cinematographic experience as a fantastic way to travel. She loves auteur films, and through their films, she likes to become aware of the different realities of life that exist, depending on the place, the epoch, the different characters that are evoked. Finally, Inès is not confined to a particular genre of cinema, she appreciates documentaries and cartoons just as much as « classical » films themselves.
Julien's first cinematographic memory also dates from his childhood, it is “The Sorcerer's Apprentice” by Walt Disney Productions. Since then, he has been fascinated by cinemas. More precisely, he loves the red seats, the silence of the room, then the moment when the lights go out, before the projection on the giant screen ... he loves this moment of waiting before the world and the story which will appear and be narrated through the images... Another fabulous and decisive experience in his passion for cinema was the “Fantastic Film Festival” which was organized in Annemasse in parallel to that of Avoriaz. Thus, the first auteur films who marked him were horror films, in particular those of John Carpenter and those of David Lynch ... and since, his love for the cinema has never weakened and has developed over the years...
What is original / personal / interesting about your approach ?
Our blog will specifically talk about « cult movies » ! During our discussions, we have tried to define what a « cult movie » was for us, and we came up with the following definition : “we could say that a cult movie, it's a film that marked us, shocked, us, upset us... that made us think... a film that left us with an indelible memory ; it could be a movie that you have only seen once but that you still remember perfectly.”
What is the 'raison d'être' of your blog ?
All in all, the "raison d'être" of our blog will be to share a true love of cinema in a very subjective way ; far from any promotional and marketing vision ; it is above all the will to share and to make discover some movies that made us vibrate emotionally and intellectually.
Who will find your blog interesting ?
Our blog aims to present masterpieces (masterpieces according to our sensitivity) to a wide audience. Indeed, our blog will address to all lovers of cinema but also to any curious person, eager to discover films of all kinds ! Our blog will be also able to answer in a great way at the question that many human beings ask themselves after 8 pm : what are we watching tonight ?
Enjoy the blogg
The Team
I loved creating this blog with my colleague Julien. It allowed me to talk about a subject that I love and to share it. And thanks to the great knowledge of my colleague, I was able to know more about my hobby. In addition, it has developed my creativity and my team spirit. In any case, the creation of a blog is a great experience, I really enjoyed myself by making my own. I hope you will have fun looking at our blog.
See you soon for new adventures.

I must admit that without Inès, I would never have had the idea of creating a blog dedicated to cinema ; and I can tell that I had a lot of fun to immerse myself in this passion that animates me since childhood ! Besides, in my opinion, it is really interesting to work as a team because it is very pleasant to discover the sensitivity of others, The taste of Others, as would have said the unforgettable Jean-Pierre Bacri. I loved discovering and reading Inès’s articles.
If I had to do it again, I would do it again !
See you soon on the best blog in the world !
